The Command Center
With the birth of my soon on the horizon, my wife demanded I relocate the computer room. I don't live in the largest house on the street and by most standards my house is pretty modestly sized (square footage). I came up with the idea of purchasing a shed, run electric, install an A/C unit, insulate the walls and lay some carpet squares. A few months later, I had working server farm in my back yard. During it's heyday it housed seven PowerEdge 2650, NETRA X4450, several laptops, and desktops. It did not take long before I seen an increase in my electric bill.
Update - it is Jan 3 and my office is 78 degrees with the heater turned off. I usually turn the heater on in the morning for a hour and that will keep the building warm until the evening time. I might have to open the window, but worried it will lower my humidity levels (40%), which is regulated by hanging up a wet t-shirt.
